Dr Maarten Doornaert

Dr. Doornaert is a plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon. He obtained the degree in Medicine Master magna cum laude at the Ghent University and obtained his PhD in the spring of 2019. He continued his education with a fellowship in internal medicine and a fellowship in general surgery at the Aalst OLV-hospital.

After that he devoted a year to scientific research in autologous fat transplantation, lipofilling, and tissue engineering at the Ghent University, leading to various international publications and presentations.

He was trained in Plastic Surgery in the Ghent University hospital by Prof. Dr. S. Monstrey. He was honored to receive teachings from Prof. Monstrey and other internationally renowned experts such as Prof. Dr. Ph. Blondeel, Prof. Dr. M. Hamdi, Prof. Dr. K. Van Landuyt, Dr. N. Roche, en Dr. F. Stillaert. During the training, all aspects of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery were thoroughly trained, with emphasis on the most advanced microsurgical techniques in reconstructive surgery. He completed this training with numerous congresses both national and international.

Currently, He is a member of staff in the Sint-Elizabeth Hospital in Zottegem. He has his private practice in Ghent and Antwerp (o2 Clinic). He remains attached to the Ghent University and the faculty of surgery where he obtained his PhD thanks to his extensive research on lipofilling.
