Hair transplant
How many grafts do I need?
The number of hair follicles (grafts) that can be used for a hair transplant is limited. There are some 5,500 grafts in the donor area that can be used for a hair transplant. It is therefore not only a question of determining how many grafts are needed to improve the hairline/recipient area, but also how many grafts can be used to the maximum. Transplanting too many grafts at once can even cause hair density to deteriorate.
Is hair transplant surgery painful?
According to most patients, a hair transplant is not a painful experience. Patients are always given local anaesthetics and other medications to alleviate the discomfort. Most patients report that the procedure is pain-free and that the patient's recovery is not necessary. However, the procedure can take a long time as all hair follicles have to be harvested one by one.
Is it necessary to shave my hair before hair transplant surgery?
You can choose. We use both the Shave FUE method (= Follicle Unit Extraction with shaving) and the No-shave FUE method (= Follicle Unit Extraction without shaving). It is also called "unshaven FUE", "non-shaven FUE", "U-FUE (or Undetectable FUE)" or long hair FUE. This entails transplanting long hairs. This way no one knows that you have had a transplant. Of course, the No-shave FUE method is more time-consuming and more cumbersome to harvest and implant. Therefore, the price per graft is also higher.
How long does it take to recover?
After the operation:
The hair is NOT washed or styled. The hair is still loose so it would just fall out. The skin needs time to grow back together again. You will be given a bandage that must remain in place for at least 2 days. You could go back to work, but we recommend taking a week off to fully recover. After about 3 days:
Carefully remove the bandage and clean the hair with water and a mild shampoo. Do not stand under a jet but let the water drip gently over your head. Pat dry gently (do not rub). In this stage, slight swelling and scabs will form. After about 2 weeks:
The newly transplanted hair will fall out - this is normal. After about 2 months:
The hair can be dyed again. After about 3 months:
The new hair will start to grow until about 12 months after your hair transplant. And of course, if you have long hair, the new hair will take a while to catch up.What is the difference between FUE and FUT transplants?
During an FUE hair transplant (= Follice Unit Extraction), hairs are harvested one by one from the donor area and transplanted into the recipient area. This is quite labour intensive for our specialists. Therefore, this method is more expensive and in addition, fewer grafts can be transplanted a day than an FUT hair transplant. However, you can choose the Shave (the donor area is shaved in advance) or the No Shave method (long hairs are harvested and implanted). Kinky-curly hair (e.g. 3 C of 4A, B or C) is very brittle and therefore not suitable for FUE treatment.
During an FUT hair transplant (= Follicle Unit Transplant), a strip of skin is removed from the donor area at the back of the head and reimplanted into the recipient area. This makes it slightly cheaper than FUE and faster, but a major disadvantage of this technique is that it leaves a scar in the donor area. For these reasons we do not use this method in our clinic.
Will I have to undergo an additional hair transplant in the future?
It is possible that your hair loss will continue. Especially if you have had a hair transplant at a young age. All transplanted grafts will continue to produce hair for the rest of your life, but the hair around them that you had at first could fall out at a later time. In that case, you could consider extra treatment.
What is the cost of hair transplant or hairline lowering surgery?
Hair transplants or hairline lowering surgeries vary greatly from patient to patient, which is why it is difficult to put a general price for hair surgery. It depends on what your wishes are, how large the zone is, which method you choose (Shave FUE or No Shave FUE), how many grafts you will need, etc. The costs will be determined during your consultation or you can request a personalised quote to get an idea.
More information about the price per graft can be found here.
Chemical peel
Why do I have to buy four products at the beginning of my treatment?
This purchase takes place during the consultation + first soft peeling session. You need these products in order to apply the correct preparation and post-treatment. If you don’t, you will expierience the disadvantages of past peel treatment (large patches of loose skin, hypersensitivity to the sun, burns, infections...) and the peel will not be able to do its job as thoroughly and the result will not be optimal. This purchase is a one-off purchase to cover all your future treatments or sessions.
Can I wear make-up after the peel treatment?
For the first 24 hours, do not apply make-up to your skin because of the risk of infection, clogged pores, reducing the effectiveness of the peel...
Can I go into the sun / under a sunbed?
Avoid direct / prolonged exposure to sunlight or sunbeds for the first few weeks before and after treatment. ALWAYS wear sunscreen, and certainly after your treatment. Sun protection is included in the purchase of the skincare products.
Is there any downtime / are there side effects?
No, there are no major disadvantages as with previous treatment techniques. However, the skin may feel dry for a while after the treatment.
Is a chemical peel painful?
No, when the chemical peel is applied, you won't experience pain. You might feel a slight burning or tingling sensation depending on the intensity of the treatment but this is not painful.
Can I have a chemical peel in the summer (concerning hyperpigmentation)?
Yes, apart from retinol peels, all peels are not sensitive to the skin. Therefore, when combined with the right @home skincare products, they can be used safely 365 days a year. This makes the Ekseption peeling products (the brand we use) the safest category within chemical peelings.

Injectables
Which fillers are used for tear trough treatment against dark circles and puffy bags under the eyes?
Our aesthetic doctor uses classic fillers with hyaluronic acid for this treatment. Book your first consultation with Dr. Leen here, she will discuss with you your specific wishes, how much prduct you will need and how many sessions you might need.
What is the cost of an injectable treatment (fillers, muscle relaxants, profhilo, PRP, sclerotherapy...)?
It all depends on the treatment, the amount of product you will need and what you desire to achieve with this treatment. When visiting for the first time, you need to book a consultation for the necessary paperwork and medical advice. Only then our aesthetic doctor can determine what the ideal treatment is for you, how much you need and whether you need several sessions or not.
After the treatment, you will have to pay per injection or per product unit used at the clinic. Some people will need a little bit more per zone, others a bit less. Our doctor has an eye for detail and knows how to use the different injectables in a subtle way. This is important, because this way you get the best results and you only pay for the amount of units used. You pay what you book!
You can find estimated prices here, after your consultation you will be informed of the exact prices of your treatment.
How many months after delivery do I have to wait for a PRP treatment?
You will not be treated while you are pregnant or while you are breastfeeding. As soon as you have delivered your baby (and decide not to breastfeed) or when you have stopped breastfeeding, you can start a PRP treatment.
What are muscle relaxants used for?
Muscle relaxants are used in aesthetic medicine to correct disruptive expression wrinkles as well as facial gesticulation wrinkles. These are caused by frequent facial expressions and are often noticed between the eyebrows (frown wrinkles), on the forehead (forehead wrinkles) and next to the eyes (crow's feet or smile lines).
Apart from that, muscle relaxants can also be used to dull e.g. tension headaches and even combat excessive sweating (also called hyperhidrosis) on the hands and feet for instance.
Do you treat or dissolve badly placed lipfillers?
Yes, we do. Badly placed lip filler can cause undesired lumps or bumps or even an asymmetrical shape of the lips. In case you have had a bad lip filler treatment in the past, our aesthetic doctor can inject Hyalase® (hyaluronidase) to dissolve the old lip filler. Your lips will regain their natural shape in a couple of weeks. After that, fillers with hyaluronic acid can be injected again to balance out the hydration, volume, proportion and symmetry of the lips. Fine lines disappear and the upper and lower lip look smooth and well-proportioned again.

Does pregnancy have an impact on my breast augmentation?
If you wish to have a baby, pregnancy in itself has no direct effect on the result of your breast augmentation or the implants. However, your glands may swell during pregnancy, making them appear fuller. After your pregnancy, this swelling will disappear again.
Which implant brands are used for breast augmentation surgery?
Our clinic uses Sebbin, Motiva, Mentor and B-Lite. All these implants have a 10 to 15 year warranty.
How many check-ups do I need after breast augmentation surgery?
Plan check-ups with your surgeon (usually after the first 10 days, then after 1 month or in case of problems). After your recovery, general check-ups can be done with your GP or gynaecologist. In case no problems occur, we advise you to check the implants after 12 years with an ultrasound.
What is the legal age for breast augmentation surgery in Belgium?
In Belgium, this is not very clear on a legal basis. We are very reluctant to carry out aesthetic surgeries on minors and both parents must agree. Furthermore, we only do this after an explicit discussion and thorough assessment and if this is a case of psychological suffering in which a breast augmentation can help.
How long does it take before I can return to work after breast augmentation surgery?
Usually it takes 4 to 6 weeks to recover. That being said, everyone's recovery process is different.
Can I have paid sick leave if I want to have breast augmentation surgery?
No. In general, this is classified as a purely cosmetic surgery and may not meet your sick leave policy requirements.
What are the possibilities if I am not satisfied with the procedure?
The intention is that there should be clear consultation BEFORE the operation so that it is clear to both the surgeon and the patient what the desired wishes are and what can be achieved. This avoids 99.99% of problems afterwards. If things should go wrong, which is always possible with surgery, then intervention is free of charge. In the short term, this could be due to a haemorrhage, for example, or a wound infection.
When do I HAVE TO contact my surgeon during my recovery?
In the event of severe swelling of the chest, increasing pain or inflammation of the wounds.
